The Museum is not only a local NYC landmark but a National Historic Landmark. The WWII aircraft carrier Intrepid had long career in the navy and in 1982 Intrepid became a museum with the mission of honoring national heroes, educating the public and inspiring youth. The exhibits range from historical re-creations to rides in simulators to being able to visit the inside of the world’s fastest commercial airplane, Concorde.
