Times Square, formerly named Longacre Square, was renamed in 1904 following the construction of the New York Times headquarters located at One Times Square. Times Square, nicknamed “The Crossroads of the World” and “The Great White Way” has become a universal symbol for both New York City and the United States. Times Square is also famous for its yearly New Years Eve Celebration that includes dazzling lights, millions of attendees and the famous midnight ball drop.
